Notes from our tech department:
This is the San Francisco Solano
Missions of California Educational Project.
Parental Supervision is Recommended.

Founded on July 4, 1823, San Francisco Solano was the last of the 21
missions to be built. It was also the only one founded without prior approval
of the Church, as Father Jose Altimira and Governor Arguello conspired to halt
an expanding Russian presence.
In 1826, Father Altimira's harsh treatment of the Native Americans led to
the mission being attacked and burned. He was forced to flee. A kinder
replacement, Father Fortuni, rebuilt the mission and by 1830 nearly 1000
Indians were in residence.
San Francisco Solana gained more significance in California history when
it became the site of the 26-day Bear Flag Revolt against Mexico in 1846.
Purchased by the Historic Landmark Society in 1903, the mission was restored
and is now part of the Sonoma Mission State Historic Park
