1/8 2001 Space Odyssey EVA Pod

Stanley Kubrick’s science fiction masterpiece!

Moebius Models' 1/8-scale model of the EVA Pod is an extraordinarily detailed, precision-tooled styrene kit. 10 ¼ inches high and 11 ½ inches wide fully assembled, the model features a detailed interior, poseable manipulator arms and an opening rear hatch. Meticulously researched, this kit features a full interior/exterior decal set for the EVA Pod and includes complete assembly instructions. Cement and paint required for assembly — sold separately.

Extravehicular Activity Pods — EVA Pods — are small one-man transports designed to move outside of a spaceship, often to provide maintenance and carry out complex tasks with arm and hand controllers. The deep space exploration spacecraft, Discovery XD-1, carries three EVA Pods, named Alice, Betty and Clara. EVA Pods are self-sufficient vehicles equipped with maneuvering and life-support systems, including a pressurized interior which allows the astronaut to perform an EVA in the pod without having to wear a full spacesuit. The EVA Pod can also be remotely controlled by the Discovery's on-board HAL9000 super-computer.

When a monolithic object of apparent extra-terrestrial origin is discovered in orbit around Jupiter, the Discovery is sent to investigate and collect data related to the mysterious artifact. Due to conflicting information in his mission programming, the HAL9000 computer malfunctions, becomes paranoid, and kills all of the crew except for Commander David Bowman, who manages to survive by removing HAL's core memory banks. Yet the mystery of the monolithic artifact remains, and David Bowman is about to take the trip of his life...
