The wait is over. With the AXP8 Gilamon 2.2 RTR, Axial introduces the next level in RC rock crawling performance. It’s the most innovative and maneuverable rig you’ve ever seen.
A true rock crawler, the Gilamon isn’t made for overlanding or easy “Sunday” drives. With its 2.2-inch wheel setup and new AXP8 platform, this RC crawler has no match on the most challenging trails and obstacles. Because it’s ready-to-run, you don’t need experience to succeed. But if you have spent a lot of time on the trails, you’ll be blown away by what you can do now that was impossible before.
What’s so revolutionary about the AXP8? Let’s start with its heavy-duty, high-clearance, front and rear AF16P portal axles - and especially the rear-axle ASD (Axial Selectable Drive), a more advanced and highly capable drivetrain version of cutting brakes. While cutting brakes are only as strong as the brakes themselves, ASD physically and completely locks a wheel. It’s better than cutting brakes. And unlike front dig, which locks the entire axle, ASD can lock either of the rear wheels individually. That gives you an even tighter turning radius and greatly improved maneuvering capabilities.
The AF16P front axle and advanced new AT6 transmission are also designed to accept optional ASD setups, giving you an unprecedented amount of vehicle control. With ASD assigned to a 3-position switch on your transmitter, you can activate locking or constant 4WD functions. Using a 5-position switch, you’ll be able to configure the ASD system to drive, to free wheel, or to lock.
No RC crawler has offered this level of sophistication before. Nothing can stand in your way. The AT6 transmission is also equipped with a 30% underdrive to the rear axle that dramatically improves climbing and increases maneuverability.
Further improving the rig’s trail performance are the extreme articulation of its 4-link suspension and the additional clearance of its realistic, new IS10 internal spring shocks. An oversized, high torque Axial Boulder 550 21-turn brushed motor sends power through durable, heavy-duty WB12 driveshafts to officially licensed Raceline Avenger wheels and 5.5-inch tall Mickey Thompson Baja Boss M/T tires. Surrounding it all is a durable composite cage that offers protection and challenge-ready trail buggy looks.
The included Spektrum DX3 radio and Firma 70A ESC give you the telemetry benefits of exclusive Smart technology. Other high-quality, factory-installed Spektrum on-board electronics include a SR515 5-channel DSMR receiver, S682 metal gear steering servo, and SX117AX metal gear micro servo for the ASD function. Just add your choice of recommended battery and charger - then you’re ready to take on any obstacle that lies ahead.
Get ready to go where no crawler has gone before with the Axial AXP8 Gilamon 2.2 RTR. It’s the king of the hill, the trail, the canyon, the ledge, and everything else off-road!
Expand your strategies for overcoming obstacles with the Gilamon trail buggy’s ASD (Axial Selectable Drive), a more advanced and highly capable drivetrain version of cutting brakes. While cutting brakes are only as strong as the brakes themselves, ASD physically and completely locks a wheel. As it’s set up out of the box, you can lock either of the rear wheels for a tighter turning radius. The front axle and transmission also accept optional ASD setups.
The Gilamon has a durable, realistically detailed composite cage with Lexan body panels for protection and challenge-ready trail buggy looks. The rig comes factory-finished and is available in your choice of two color options.
Axial puts the emphasis on durability and versatility with its all-new AT6 transmission. The transmission includes a 30% underdrive to the rear axle that dramatically improves climbing and increases maneuverability. It’s also designed to accept optional ASD (Axial Selectable Drive) setups for an unprecedented level of vehicle control.
Heavy-duty, high clearance AF16P portal axles are among the design innovations that increase maneuverability for success on challenging trails. The rear axle comes with ASD (Axial Selectable Drive) function installed, and the front axle is ASD compatible.
The high-quality, waterproof Spektrum on-board electronics are ideal for crawling in any conditions. The Spektrum S682 metal gear steering servo has the industry standard 25-tooth spline count and an aluminum servo horn for strength. A Spektrum SX108 metal gear micro servo is included for the ASD (Axial Selectable Drive) system.
A big rig like the Gilamon needs a big motor. The oversized, factory-installed Axial Boulder 550 is longer than a typical 540 motor, providing more torque and greater durability. The 21-turn design offers the perfect blend of power and wheel speed.
The included Spektrum DX3 Smart transmitter, SR515 5 channel receiver, and Firma 70A Smart ESC are ready to deliver the telemetry advantages of Smart technology. Install a Spektrum Smart LiPo battery and you’ll be able to follow vehicle battery capacity on the transmitter's voltage level indicator.
The Gilamon features all-new, aluminum body, internal spring IS10 shocks that increase ground clearance and scale realism. Its smooth, high-flex 4-link suspension geometry reduces the effects of torque twist and provides consistent articulation without the bump steer found in 3-link designs.
For nighttime crawling, preinstalled LED rock lights illuminate each wheel. Housed in rugged cases, the bright LEDs are clamped to the cage, which allows the lights to be moved. Multiple colors add clarity for crawling and style.
Heavy-duty WB12 front and rear driveshafts offer the durability needed to withstand the abuse of crawling over rocks and rugged trails.
The Gilamon rides on 5.5 inch tall, officially licensed Mickey Thompson Baja Boss M/T 2.2 tires. They look authentic and supply the aggressive traction needed to climb over and conquer any obstacle.
The classic 8-spoke design of these officially licensed Raceline Avenger 2.2 wheels adds to the Gilamon rig’s authentic scale trail buggy looks.
