Review by Gumby on 2 Mar 2019review stating Nice P-51
Received my P-51 Mustang and as usual it was packaged very well. Instruction manual could be a little more americanized. Had a little problem with the easy hinges breaking after thin ca was applied. I installed a O.S. 50 fx with 12x6 apc prop and had no problems at all, retracts went together very smoothly. Had to add 1 1/2 oz. Lead in the tail to get it balanced correctly. I put some D-day stripes and some extras to make it more attractive. Overall a very nice plane. This has been my 5th Phoenix model purchase and I am now going to purchase the Phoenix model Stuka. I am still waiting to fly the Mustang due to the terrible winter we are having here in Utah.
Review by Gi D. on 22 Sep 2019review stating Great value but needs work and patience
I mostly fly mild 3d. So, this was my first scale model. In all, it flies great for the money that I put into it. However the kit does have its flaws that a beginner builder would have issues. The landing gear needs a lot of work to operate properly. Mine did not come with spacers for the landing gear covers. So, I did not place them on the plane. Especially since they do not sit flush with the body with the landing gear up. The spinner back plate is horribly out of balance and out of round. I attached it the to motor shaft and indexed a point on the shaft with it. I then spun up the motor and used a Dremel to true up the back plate. The spinner is horribly out of balance too. You cannot spool up the motor to full rpm's without vibrating the plane to pieces. I attached the spinner to the back plate; then drilled a hole into the spinner while spooling up the motor to get it as true to the motor axis as possible. I then took the back plate and spinner off the motor spindle and balanced it as best as I could with a balancer. I placed T-Rex duct tape inside the spinner to balance. I then placed the whole assembly back on the motor. I then tested the whole assembly for vibration. Trial and error led to the best balance possible. It took longer to balance the spinner then it took to build the whole plane. But now I can spool up the motor to max rpm's with as minimal vibration as possible. The air intake scoop on the bottom of the plane does not fit well also. I did not spend a lot of extra time to make it fit perfectly. Especially since I thought I might crash this bird on the maiden. The end is a great looking scale plane for minimal cost. The plane definitely does not have the control authority as a 3d plane. You must land this bird at a relatively higher speed than a 3d plane. In all it is a good start to warbird scale models. I feel that you would have to spend much more money to get a perfect plane. With a little patience, this is a great scale plane to start with. If anyone has any advice on flaperon and elevator mixes on this plane, please post. I do know that with such small control surfaces, that slow speed stalls during landing are inherent in this type model. I would like to land this a little slower if possible.

Review by Splinter on 26 Apr 2019review stating Phoenix P51
This is my second Phoenix model . I have the Dauntless. Quality is good . The changes I made were using electric retracts . I used the stock struts and different wheels. I've built plenty of war birds in my 30 plus years in the hobby and this is the first I had to add tail weight. I have the battery ( 5 cell 5200) back where the pilot is instead of the battery tray. Make sure you lock tight all strut keys Also the cowl on this plane screams for nose art. I used a Cobra 4120/12 motor
