I bought the decathlon for our big rayhall fly in at our club. I have the stuka Phoenix medal and others. Well built, the best, so I want someone to win it and see how fantastic your airplanes really are!!!!

Spent a month building her. My 28th aircraft maiden flight. Went together well. Not my first Phoenix model. From the beginning something was off in this kit. There was broken wood in the fuselage area around the control rods in the rear of the aircraft. I fixed that. No biggie. The kit it self was missing the ailerons push rods(which Tower promptly replaced). Again. No big deal. The lower hatch was pieced together and did not fit well at all. Like the air frame was a tiny bit twisted. On maiden the plane destroyed itself in the air in a deliberate typical spin maneuver to check the stall speed after I got it trimmed out. The Forward windscreen upright let go and twisted the top area and ripped the wing off. Being a aerobatic plane and someone who has built many planes I was surprised it let go like that. Phoenix models are known to be very strong and heavy duty. Anyhow.. I actually got it back to the runway barely but it was to late and out of control. The Super D hit hard as the one wing was hanging a little lower. Total loss.. unfortunately. I like the Decathlon. Guess I got a lemon. Maybe I got the new guy or gal that day who was having a bad building day. Who knows. It flew beautifully while it lasted. I only wish I had a second chance with this one.

Great airplane I'm very impressed with the strong construction by Phoenix. I,m flying it with a Rim fire 55 motor. this is a great airplane very smooth flying and the takeoffs and landings are at ease. I have had this airplane for about 2 years.I am very happy with my purchase. Thank you Tower Hobbies

Sharp looking kit, nice flier and an easy build

Quick shipping and nicely packed. Everything went together as planned and the maiden was uneventful. I fly it as an electric with a generously powered bigfoot Tacon motor on a 6s 4000 batt using an oversized 100a esc and a 12x8.5 prop getting about 5mins of agressive flight time. I set it up with stock rates on high settings and I'd still probably add some more aileron and rudder throw to liven it up a bit.
It taxies out well and ground handling was predictable. Get plenty of speed on the ground before gently lifting off and keep the speed up in the air and on approach and you'll enjoy your time flying this 8lb auw bird.
A really handsome plane in flight and on the ground. I'm sure you'll love yours too. Fair winds and safe flying.
