In hobby RC car descriptions, “nitro fuel” (also called “glow fuel”) is sometimes used interchangeably with “gas,” but these fuels are not the same. Nitro RC engines require nitro fuel, a special blend of methanol, nitromethane, and protective lubricants, available pre-mixed from hobby retailers. Special fuel needs aside, nitro-powered RC model cars still capture the sights and sounds of real, full-size racing. There’s a huge variety of nitro RC car and truck types to choose from: stadium trucks, monster trucks, buggies, truggies, and more, from brands including Losi®, Team Losi Racing®, and Kyosho®. You’ll need some special pit equipment to run them, but most items are one-time purchases from Tower Hobbies® that you can use to operate any number of nitro RC models.
