Overview

Tungsten cubes are the top choice in Derby Weights for maximum performance. They allow the builder to create extremely dense weight pockets in the lower rear portion of the car for maximum energy and stability. Their precision tolerances allow them to be stacked tightly in any desired configuration for thin and narrow bodies. The Derby Worx 2 oz. Tungsten Cube kit contains 12 high density / polished 1/4″ tungsten cubes, perfect for adding weight in small areas of thinly designed derby cars.

Due to its very high density Tungsten is an excellent weighting material for derby cars. Only gold, platinum, and a few other rare and expensive metals have a similar density. Tungsten is approximately 1.7 times denser than lead and 3.2 times denser than the zinc (“lead-free”) weight often used on derby cars, thus it allows a tremendous amount of freedom in the car design especially for speed by allowing the builder to place a large amount of weight in a small, aerodynamic area. Also tungsten is completely non-toxic and environmentally friendly.
