Shopzilla (formerly BizRate.com), the leading comparison shopping search engine, initiated the awards in 1999 as a way to recognize businesses who offer consistent excellence in customer service. In addition to being one of just 73 e-tailers to earn the Platinum Award for 2007, Tower Hobbies also has the distinction of being one of only two businesses that have won the award every year since its inception.
BizRate.com bestows the awards annually, based on customer satisfaction surveys conducted throughout the preceding year. Customers are surveyed online at the time of the sale and after the product has been delivered. Platinum awards are given to those merchants who achieve above-average ratings in all six key customer service categories, including: overall satisfaction; product selection; ease of finding products; repurchase intent; product’s ability to meet expectations; on-time delivery; and customer support.
